The George Inn, Wedmore

The George is situated in the village of Wedmore with a rich & fantastic history. Wedmore stands on high ground overlooking the Somerset Levels, with outstanding views of the Mendip Hills to the East.

Wedmore is a central location for visiting Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury, Wells, Street, The Quantocks & surrounding countryside. Wedmore village itself also offers a variety of shops, café’s, restaurants, pubs & sports facilities.

For centuries, The George has been providing food & drink for villagers & visitors alike, along with a place to rest weary heads. As the oldest inn in the village it continues to do just that, whilst also holding onto some of the more recent traditions such as the annual Young Farmers “Show & Sale” (for nearly 100 years) which takes place in the courtyard.

The George is a 16th century building housing a traditional pub, restaurant, along with a private dining / event space.

There are also 5 en suite hotel rooms with a mix of double & king sized beds. All of the hotel rooms are uniquely decorated offering something different with equal amounts of comfort & charm.

Breakfast, lunch & dinner are available to all hotel guests (table reservation is recommended), along with a comprehensive bar offering. Our food menus are changed regularly, along with providing daily specials, all with locally sourced produce.

We do welcome dogs in the pub & specific areas within the restaurant, as well as one of our hotel rooms. We just ask that our four legged friends remain on leads in public areas & respect our other patrons.

There is an on-site car park, courtyard & walled pub garden with children’s play area to help enjoy those warmer times.

Also on-site is a sports therapist, hairdressers, craft produce retail unit (beers, spirits, wine etc) & an Indian restaurant.
