At The Talbot, you’ll find a cosy pub nestled in the heart of the beautiful Dorset countryside. Located in the historic village of Iwerne Minster, you won’t find a friendlier place to relax and enjoy great food and drinks. Your hosts, Kim & Richard Raymond from Johannesburg, South Africa, and Claire from Cape Town, are excited to welcome you. We took over the village pub in mid-March 2025 with the support of our wonderful community and look forward to extending a warm welcome to you!
Accommodation & Check-In/Out Information
Our pub offers five comfortable en-suite rooms, as well as a self-catering apartment perfect for families. We also offer a varied breakfast menu available to guests daily.
Check-in time: 14:00 – 20:00 (If you’ll be arriving later, please let us know so we can be sure to be available for your arrival.)
Check-out time: 10:00
We are a dog-friendly pub! If you’re bringing along your furry friend, please let us know when confirming your booking.
Dining
Our restaurant is open Wednesday to Sunday, but if you’re a resident guest and need a dinner meal on a Monday or Tuesday evening, simply let us know in advance – we’ll ensure you don’t go hungry!
Our menu offers simple pub grub with a South African twist, featuring classic dishes made from locally sourced, fresh ingredients. During the summer months, we’ll host braais (BBQs) on select Sundays, alternating with traditional British roasts.

The Bar
Our well-stocked bar features a fine selection of real ales, draught beers, ciders, and wines, including some excellent fine wines. It’s a lively place, especially between 17:00 and 21:00, and a bit later on Fridays when locals gather to chat and unwind.
