Overview

The Queens Head Hotel lies in the centre of the Northumbrian village of Rothbury in the heart of the Coquet Valley. Within 1 mile of the Queens is CRAGSIDE House and Gardens. Cragside was the first house to be entirely lit by hydro-electric power and the gardens are the biggest rockery in the world. We are within 15 minutes drive of the town of ALNWICK, famous for its markets, Castle (of Harry Potter fame) and gardens.

Northumberland has more castles and fortified houses than any other English County. Other castles worth a visit are BAMBURGH, WARKWORTH, and the spectacular cliff top ruins of DUNSTANBURGH. The national park is on our doorstep and an 18 hole golf course within a short walk. The Northumberland coastline is as spectacular as it is varied - from rugged cliffs to stretches of golden sandy beaches. Dotted along the coastline are many seaside villages and sites to enjoy such as CRASTER, SEAHOUSES and ALNMOUTH. Holy Island of LINDISFARNE is also within easy reach.

All of our rooms are comfortable with en-suite facilities, central heating, flat screen colour television, tea/coffee/biscuits hospitality trays, hairdryers and they are all non-smoking. There is private parking and a patio garden with shelter.

The Queens Head is noted for its excellent home cooked meals meals Our lounge/restaurant is on the ground floor opposite the homely local bar where you can enjoy a drink with our local characters before and after dinner.
Lunch and evening meals can also be taken in the Bar.

We strive to give good service in a comfortable and relaxing environment WE HOPE YOU WILL VISIT SOON.
